Adult Dolls Musical Release Campaign

Completed 2021
Single Release Campaign
Client: Adult Dolls (defunct), of which a member was James Allen (my musical brother)

My brother James – the one who got all the musical talent in the family – was once part of a band cleverly called ‘Adult Dolls’ (at the time of writing they’ve split up) and he managed to convince me to give up a weekend to create a series of promotional videos advertising their upcoming single release.

At the time, my day job had thoroughly crushed my soul (a role in which my one and only purpose was to reformat 16×9 ABC promos to 1×1 and 9×16 formats) – and so I was quite happy to get involved in a project that actually contained a few microns of creative fulfilment. You can certainly see how my total indoctrination of being submerged in ABC promos five days a week rubbed off on this project – even down to the animation of the Adult Dolls logo, which borrowed the ‘trimmed path animation’ from the old ABC logo animation before it was excellently refreshed by Trollback)

This was my first go at creating a ‘graphics package’ where a modular design system is created with interchangeable elements so that different variants of a promo can be created – and it was really quite satisfying. I can still remember the feeling of getting back to my day job on the Monday after creating this project – how in that weekend alone I felt that I’d created something more worthwhile than anything I’d ever done at that company. Luckily in two years I’d have no choice but to resign, all in the name of shooting Bananacide
